Sustainable
Navigation Strategy for the St. Lawrence
The Sustainable Navigation Strategy for the St.
Lawrence is an initiative of the St. Lawrence Action Plan under
the third Canada–Quebec Agreement on the St. Lawrence. It
contributes to the development of various aspects of navigation
while respecting the environmental conditions of the St. Lawrence.
The Strategy was developed by the members of the St. Lawrence Action
Plan Navigation Committee. It is intended to serve as a reference
tool on the environmental, social and economic aspects of shipping
and boating and is aimed at harmonizing the development of navigation
activities with ecosystem protection and the development of other
uses of the St. Lawrence River.
The project’s success is due to the close co-operation among
many partners from various navigation sectors:
- Corporation des pilotes du Saint-Laurent central
- Fédération de Voile du Québec
- Les Amis de la vallée du Saint-Laurent
- Montréal Port Authority
- Shipping Federation of Canada
- Société d’initiative et
de conservation du Bas-Richelieu
